Ingredients:
1 teaspoon(s) basil - fresh or dried |
2 tablespoon(s) chopped parsley |
1 clove(s) crushed garlic |
1/2 cup(s) finely chopped onion |
1/2 pound(s) ground beef |
1/4 cup(s) olive oil |
2 teaspoon(s) oregano leaves - fresh or dried |
1/4 teaspoon(s) pepper |
2 tablespoon(s) sugar |
1/4' pound(s) sweet italian sausage meat |
2 can(s) tomato paste 6 oz |
1 can(s) undrained tomatoes (2lb 3oz) |
Directions:
1. Make Tomato Sauce: In cup hot oil in Dutch oven, saut onion, garlic, and parsley until onion is tender about 5 minutes. 2. Add beef and sausage meat; saut until well browned and meat is completely broken up into small pieces. Drain fat. [Add tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, 1 tablespoon salt, oregano, basil and pepper; mix well, mashing tomatoes with fork. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 3 hours.] (I use jars of spaghetti sauce if Im in a hurry. Stir well so meat is mixed through the sauce.) |
