From A Taste of Carolina Hospitality cookbook. Betty W. Brook, Inman Ingredients:
8 slices bread, day-old, buttered and cubed |
2 cups shrimp (cleaned, cooked or canned) |
1 (3 ounce) can mushrooms, drained |
1/2 lb cheese, american, sharp processed, shredded |
3 eggs |
1 dash paprika |
2 cups milk |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon mustard, dry |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
Directions:
1. Place 1/2 of bread cubes in greased baking dish. Add shrimp, mushrooms, and 1/2 cheese. Top with remaining bread and cheese. Beat together eggs and seasoning; add milk and pour over all. Let stand in refrigerator for one hour. Bake in slow oven 40-45 minutes or till just set. |
