A great recipe for gluten intolerant vegetarians. It has a spice to it & are very crunchy like chicken nuggets. Is very good with sweet potato fries and your favorite dipping sauce! Ingredients:
1 block extra firm tofu |
3/4 cup gluten free bread crumbs |
2/3 cup gluten free bisquick |
2 egg whites |
3 tablespoons tony zatarain's original creole seasoning |
2/3 cups of olive oil |
Directions:
1. Preparing the Tofu 2. Freeze your block of tofu for 1 to 2 hours 3. Once out the freezer place it in a bowl of hot water 4. Take it out and place it on a napkin 5. Squeeze the extra water out of the tofu 6. Cut the tofu 7. Season the tofu with the Tony Zatarains 8. Preparing the Batter 9. In a bowl place the 2 egg whites 10. In a ziplock bag place you bread crumbs with the 3 tablespoons of Tony Zatarains 11. On a plate put your Bisquick 12. Place 2/3 cup of olive oil in a pan on medium heat 13. Coating the Tofu 14. Take one of your cut pieces of tofu and cover it with the egg whites 15. Toss it around in your bisquick then place it back in the egg whites 16. Place it in the ziplock bag and shake it around 17. Test your oil by putting a little bit of you breadcrumbs in your oil. It should rise up to the top and sizzle 18. Place your tofu pieces in the pot and let them cook till they are brown and is crispy on both sides. 19. Take out of the oil and place it on a plate topped with paper towels |
