A delicious alternative to canned sloppy joes Ingredients:
6 hamburger buns |
1 medium onion |
1 medium celery rib |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
1 lb ground beef |
16 ounces spaghetti sauce, heated |
Directions:
1. If you use the onion, peel the outside layer of skin from it. Wash onion and the celery in cool water. Pat dry with the paper towels. Chop onion and celery into small pieces on the cutting board, using the knife. Save for later. 2. Put the ground beef in the skillet. Stir with the long handled spoon until beef is broken into small pieces. Cook over medium heat 8-10 minutes, stirring often, until beef is brown. 3. Take the skillet off hot burner. Put the strainer over the small bowl. Spoon beef into strainer to drain the fat. Put beef back in skillet. 4. Add the chopped onion, celery, pepper, and spaghetti sauce. Heat to boiling, stirring all the time. Turn the heat down to low. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring a few times. 5. Split each hamburger bun in half. Spoon sloppy joe mixture onto the bottoms of the buns. Cover with the tops of the buns. |
