A Christmas open house staple. This punch is wonderful...but it's a killer. Ingredients:
3 cinnamon sticks |
20 whole cloves |
1 cup water |
1 cup raisins |
2/3 cup slivered almonds |
1/4 cup sugar |
1/2 gallon red wine |
750 ml port wine |
1 cup light rum |
1 cup aquavit |
orange slice, for garnish |
Directions:
1. In a small saucepan, combine cinnamon sticks, cloves, and water. Cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Simmer about 30 minutes. Strain. Discard spices. 2. In a 4-quart pan, combine spiced water with remaining ingredients, except orange slices. Heat over medium-low heat. DON'T boil. 3. Serve in a punch bowl or from copper stock pot. Garnish top of punch with slices. |
