A family Christmas favorite. Ingredients:
3/4 cup soft butter or margarine |
1 1/2 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed |
3 eggs |
2 tsp vanilla |
2 cups sifted all purpose flour |
2 tsp baking powder |
1/2 tsp salt |
2 tbsp granulated sugar |
1 1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
Directions:
1. Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Beat in 2. 2 whole eggs and 1 egg yolk (reserving white for topping) and vanilla. Sift flour with baking powder and salt, stir into butter mixture. Fold in 1/2 cup of the walnuts. Spread mixture in 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Combine remaining egg white with 2 Tbsp sugar, stir in rest of walnuts and spoon evenly over batter. Bake at 375 degrees for 3. 25-30 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Cut into bars. |
