Ingredients:
1 (14-ounce) package firm tofu, drained and cut into 8 (1/2-inch-thick) slices |
1 teaspoon olive oil |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce |
1/3 cup low-fat mayonnaise |
1/3 cup chopped fresh basil |
1 garlic clove, minced |
8 (1 1/2-ounce) slices whole-wheat bread, toasted |
8 (1/4-inch-thick) slices tomato (about 8 ounces) |
Directions:
1. Place tofu slices on several layers of paper towels; cover with additional paper towels. Let stand 5 minutes, pressing down occasionally. Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu, and sauté 4 minutes. Turn slices over, and sprinkle with salt and pepper; sauté 4 minutes. Spoon Worcestershire sauce over tofu; cook 30 seconds or until browned, turning once. 2. Combine mayonnaise, basil, and garlic. Spread mayonnaise mixture evenly over each of 4 bread slices, layering each slice with 2 tofu slices and 2 tomato slices. Cover with remaining bread slices. |
