This is such a pretty side dish,lovely with any barbacued meats Ingredients:
12 young beetroots |
25 ml butter |
2 onions, sliced |
6 shallots or 6 small onions, chopped |
12 1/2 ml honey |
12 1/2 ml flour |
5 ml red wine vinegar |
5 ml salt |
10 ml chopped fresh basil or 5 ml dried basil |
Directions:
1. Scrape and quarter beetroot. 2. Melt butter in a saucepan and sauté onions and shallots until transparent. 3. Add beetroot and simmer for 5 minutes, adding a little water if necessary. 4. Combine honey, flour and vinegar and add to saucepan. 5. Sprinkle with salt and marjoram, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. 6. Cool before serving. |
