This is a great recipe that can serve dual purpose. Fantastic as a side dish with pork or fish or as a dessert. I serve it both ways. Especially like it with vanilla ice cream as a dessert. Enjoy Ingredients:
6 tablespoons butter |
6 apples |
3/4 cup packed brown sugar |
1 lemon juice only |
2 tablespoons applejack or calvados |
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon |
1/4 teaspoons ground nutmeg |
cream sauce |
1 cup heavy cream |
2 tablespoons powdered sugar |
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
Directions:
1. Use medium to large sized apples. 2. Choose apples that are good for baking. 3. Peel core and thinly slice then apples. 4. Melt butter in heavy skillet. 5. Add remaining ingredients and cook over medium heat for 30 minutes turning often. 6. Serve warm with sauce. 7. To make sauce whip 1 cup heavy cream until soft peaks form then fold in powdered sugar and nutmeg. |
