GLAZED AMARETTO BROWNIES This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Fielder Estate in Justin, Texas in 1988. Ingredients:
3/4 cup flour |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/3 cup vegetable shortening |
2 tablespoons water |
6 ounce package semisweet chocolate chips |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 eggs |
1-1/2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts |
4 tablespoons amaretto |
white frosting layer |
1/2 cup butter |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 cups confectioners’ sugar |
chocolate glaze layer |
6 ounce semisweet chocolate chips |
1 tablespoon vegetable shortening |
Directions:
1. Sift flour, baking soda and salt together then combine sugar, shortening and water in pan. 2. Heat stirring constantly until sugar melts and mixture boils then remove from heat. 3. Stir in chocolate chips and vanilla until smooth then beat in eggs one at a time. 4. Stir in dry mixture and nuts then spread evenly in square pan and bake at 325 for 30 minutes. 5. Remove from oven and sprinkle amaretto on top while still hot then cool completely. 6. Beat butter and vanilla until creamy then add sugar gradually until smooth. 7. Spread evenly on top of brownie layer then chill until firm. 8. Melt chocolate and shortening in double boiler then spread glaze on top and cut into squares. 9. Chill until served. |
