This is just another recipe that my Grandmother had on her menu at her restaurant. I've been told by my aunt's that the customers use to rave about her cooking. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups yellow cornmeal |
1 1/2 cups water |
1/2 cup milk |
1 tablespoon oil |
2 tablespoons chopped onions |
1 cup flour |
3 teaspoons baking powder |
2 teaspoons salt |
1 teaspoon sugar |
Directions:
1. Cook cornmeal and water until still. 2. Remove from heat and blend in remaining ingredients. 3. Drop by teaspoon full into the hot shortening and fry for about 7 minutes or until a nice golden brown. |
