This is a recipe that came form My Mother's Stash - I remember her making these quite often when I was young and they were delicious, especially with a cold glass of milk!! Ingredients:
1 cup molasses |
1 teaspoon ginger |
1 cup butter or 1 cup lard, melted |
1 cup sugar |
1 egg, lightly beaten |
1/4 cup warm water |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Put molasses and ginger in a bowl, add melted butter and sugar, then egg and warm water; sift flour and baking soda and salt; work it into the other ingredients. 2. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick, and cut in rounds. 3. Place on parchment lined baking sheets. 4. Bake at 350F for 15 minutes. |
