delicious old-fashioned gingerbread Ingredients:
5 cups all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
2 1/4 teaspoons ground ginger |
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon |
3/4 teaspoon ground cloves |
3/4 teaspoon cardamom |
1 cup butter |
2 tablespoons butter |
1 cup sugar |
3/4 cup molasses |
1 tablespoon orange zest |
Directions:
1. Sift 5 cups sifted flour with baking soda, salt, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom. 2. Beat 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons of butter in a large bown with mixer until creamy. 3. Beat in 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. 4. Beat in molasses, and grated orange rind. 5. Stir in flour mixture, 1/3 at a time, blending well to make a stiff dough. 6. Chill several hours or overnight to firm. 7. Bake 8 minutes at 375 degrees F. |
