Ingredients:
5 cups all purpose flour
3 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. ground ginger
3 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups cane syrup
2 cups boiling water
Directions:
1. Sift together first six ingredients and set aside. Cream together the shortening, sugar, eggs, and syrup.
2. Mix well, and add the dry ingredients alternately with the boiling water.
3. Bake in a greased and floured sheet cake pan for 55 minutes on 350 degrees.
