My mother used to make this when I was little and served it with sliced bananas, a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a dollop of Cool Whip. OOHHHH SO GOOD! Ingredients:
1 cup molasses |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup shortening |
2 large eggs |
2 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon ginger |
1/4 teaspoon allspice |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 cup boiling water |
Directions:
1. Mix ingredients in order listed, dissolving soda in boiling water. 2. Bake in an 9 x 13 glass pan, which has been greased and floured at 350° for 40 minutes. |
