Ginger Molasses Cookies

Chewy & spicy, these are hard to resist.
Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
sugar (optional)
Directions:
1. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and salt.
2. In a large bowl, beat together brown sugar, butter, molasses and egg until smooth.
3. Add dry ingredients and beat until smooth.
4. Refrigerate 1 hour.
5. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in sugar, if desired.
6. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press flat with a glass dipped in sugar.
7. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
