These are a wonderful molasses cookie & the vanilla frosting is so smooth and creamy! They have been a family favorite for years!:-) Ooh, they freeze well too. Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup water |
1/2 cup molasses |
1/3 cup shortening |
1 egg |
2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon ginger |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon clove |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
3 cups powdered sugar |
1/3 cup butter, softened |
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla |
2 tablespoons milk (approx.) |
Directions:
1. FOR COOKIES: Mix together sugar, water, molasses, shortening and egg. 2. Sift together remaining dry ingredients and add to molasses mixture. 3. Bake 400 for 8 minutes. 4. Cool~ Frost with Vanilla Frosting. 5. FOR FROSTING: Mix together sugar and butter; beat in vanilla and enough milk to make it smooth and of spreading consistency. |
