I just love these ginger cream cookies - They're so yummy! Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup water |
1/2 cup molasses |
1/3 cup shortening |
1 egg |
2 cups all-purpose flour* or whole wheat flour |
1 teaspoon ground ginger |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
*if using self-rising flour, omit salt and baking soda. |
Directions:
1. Mix sugar, water, molasses, shortening and egg. 2. Stir in remaining ingredients. 3. Cover; refrigerate 1 hour. 4. Heat oven to 400 degrees. 5. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased 6. cookie sheet. 7. Bake until almost no indentation remains when touched, about 8 minutes. 8. Immediately remove from cookie sheet; cool. 9. Makes about 4 dozen cookies. |
