These cookies are served at the Stratford Hall, which was the birth place of Robert E. Lee. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups margarine, melted |
1/2 cup molasses |
2 cups sugar |
2 large eggs |
4 cups flour |
4 teaspoons baking soda |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1 teaspoon ginger |
1 teaspoon clove |

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. Add molasses, sugar and eggs to the margarine. 3. Beat well. 4. Sift together and add to this mixture flour, soda and spices. 5. Refrigerate the dough for several hours. 6. Make into small balls. 7. Roll in sugar. 8. Bake until firm or brown, about 8-10 minutes. |
