This is a very easy to make and economical version of the classic hotdish. It is the only one I know as I grew up with it, I absolutely love it and it makes A LOT. Enjoy!! Ingredients:
1 lb hamburger (i use 96/4) |
half box elbow macaroni, cooked and drained |
1 large onion, chopped |
sliced mushrooms (canned or fresh, i prefer canned) |
1 (28 ounce) can of petite diced tomatoes |
2 (8 ounce) cans tomato sauce |
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste |
1 pinch garlic |
1 pinch salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Brown meat, onions, salt, pepper, garlic and mushrooms, drain if needed, set aside. 2. Boil macaroni, drain set aside. 3. In a large oven safe bowl (pyrex) combine ALL above ingredients, mix thoroughly. Cover with aluminum foil, back 30-40 minutes Take the dish out of oven, remove cover, stir once, put the dish back in the oven uncovered for 5-10 minuted to create a goldnish crust on top. Let stand for at least 15 minutes. |
