This recipe comes from an old cookbook I found Amana Colony Recipes from 1948. While it is a very simple recipe, it has a very nice taste and texture. Add salt and pepper as you see fit. We topped these with ketchup. Ingredients:
1 quart potato |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 tablespoon shortening |
1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs |
Directions:
1. Peel and slice potatoes as for French fries. 2. Boil until tender and drain well. 3. Fry crumbs in butter and shortening until golden brown. 4. Pour over drained potatoes and mix until potatoes are well covered with crumbs. |
