German Pancake With Sweet Apple Filling |

This will become your family favorite breakfast on Sunday Mornings or even as a late night desert. My family and friends are always asking for it. Read more /user/oshawaogre . Ingredients:
filling |
1/4 cup of melted butter |
3/4 cup light brown sugar |
1 1/2 tbs cornstarch |
1/2 cup of milk |
4 apples (granny smith and or honey crisp) cubed |

5 large eggs (at room temperature) |
1 cup of milk (at room temperature) |
1/4 tsp vanilla extract |
1 tsp ground cinnamon |
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg |
1/4 tsp salt |
garnish |
juice of half a lemon |
icing sugar |
Directions:
1. Mix the sauce for the Filling in a pan over medium heat until thickened 2. Add in the cubed apple 3. Stir and heat for 5-10 minutes on low to medium heat 4. Put two pans (I use a 10 inch cast iron skillet and a ceramic pie plate) in the oven and pre heat them to 450 degrees 5. Mix in a bowl the batter ingredients until smooth 6. Take pans out of the oven and coat each with 2 tbs of butter 7. Split the batter between the two pans and place in the 450 degree oven 8. Bake for 12 minutes (you will see that the pancakes grow into a tall odd shape which is fine 9. Open door and turn the pans for even heat 10. (Start to re-heat the filling on the stovetop) 11. bake for 5 more minutes till edges are golden brouwn and center just starting to brown 12. Pull out of oven and sprinkle with Lemon Juice 13. Transfer to serving plates 14. Add the Apple filling 15. Sprinkle with Icing Sugar 16. Devour and ask for more |
