This is awesome. So full of great flavors. I can never get enough of this when I make it. Goes great with chicken, beef or pork. I serve this often and it always gets eaten. Enjoy Ingredients:
1-1/2 cups flour sifted |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
1-1/2 teaspoons caraway seed |
1/2 cup shortening |
3 tablespoons water |
filling |
3 cups yellow onions thinly sliced |
3 tablespoons butter |
1/2 cup milk |
1-1/2 cups sour cream divided |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
2 eggs well beaten |
3 tablespoons flour |
crisp bacon curls for garnish |
Directions:
1. Combine flour, salt and caraway seed. 2. Add shortening then cut into flour until mixture resembles small peas or coarse cornmeal. 3. Stir water in lightly with fork then stir until mixture adheres and follows fork around bowl. 4. Turn onto floured board and roll to 1/8-inch thickness. 5. Fit into pie pan and bake at 425 for 10 minutes. 6. Sauté onions in butter until lightly browned then spoon into baked pastry shell. 7. Add milk, 1-1/4 cup sour cream and salt to beaten eggs. 8. Blend flour with remaining 1/4 cup sour cream. 9. Combine with egg mixture then pour over onions. 10. Bake at 325 for 30 minutes. 11. Garnish with bacon curls. |
