1 1/4 cups boiling water |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
1 cup quick-cooking oats |
4 ounces german sweet chocolate |
1 1/2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup brown sugar |
3 eggs |
6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine |
1/4 cup light cream or 1/4 cup condensed milk |
3/4 cup brown sugar |
1 cup chopped nuts |
Directions:
1. Combine water, butter, oats, and chocolate; let sit 20 minutes. 2. Sift together flour, soda, and salt. 3. Add brown sugar, eggs, and oatmeal mixture to dry ingredients. 4. Bake in a 9x13 inch pan for 25-35 minutes. 5. Frost while hot with topping. 6. Topping:. 7. Boil butter, cream, and brown sugar for 2-3 minutes; pour over warm cake. 8. Sprinkle with chopped nuts. |
