Being German my Grandmother makes this all the time because this is one of my Grandpa's favorite meals. Now that she is older I'm the one who makes it once every 2 weeks to bring over for the both of them to enjoy. Ingredients:
8 pieces bacon |
3 tablespoons sugar |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1/4 cup white vinegar |
3/4 cup water |
1 head cabbage, finely shredded |
Directions:
1. Fry bacon until crisp; remove and drain on paper towels. 2. Add sugar, salt, and pepper to drippings. 3. Stir until dissolved. 4. Add vinegar and water, cooking briefly. 5. Pour over cabbage. 6. Top with bacon. |
