This is one of our favorite cabbage dishes. Great blend of flavors to make a wonderful salad and side dish without heating up the house. Goes great with grilled pork, sausage or chicken. Enjoy Ingredients:
1 head cabbage finely shredded |
4 green onions with tops thinly sliced |
3/4 cup granulated sugar |
3/4 cup cider vinegar |
1-1/2 teaspoons celery seed |
1-1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper |
3/4 cup vegetable oil |
Directions:
1. Place cabbage into a large non-reactive bowl. 2. In a small saucepan combine sugar, vinegar, celery seed, salt and pepper then bring to a boil. 3. Add oil then return to a boil and cook over medium heat stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. 4. Pour dressing over cabbage then toss to coat well. 5. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours before serving. |
