Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups sugar |
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
3 eggs, separated |
2 cups buttermilk |
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted |
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar |
1 unbaked (10-inch) pastry shell |
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, flour, and salt in a large mixing bowl; stir well. Add egg yolks, buttermilk, and butter; beat well. 2. Beat egg whites (at room temperature) and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form. Fold into buttermilk mixture. Pour filling into pastry shell. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. |
