This quick bread gets it's darkness and richness from great German beer and molasses and the tender apple pieces add a nice texture surprise. This is great right from the oven or toasted, especially with cinnamon honey butter! Read more ! Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour |
1t baking powder |
1/3-1/2 cup brown sugar(dark, if you have it) |
1/3 cup molasses |
1 large apple, peeled, cored, and diced |
1 1/2t cinnamon |
about 1/4t kosher or sea salt |
11-12oz good quality dark german beer |
Directions:
1. In large bowl, combine four, baking powder, sugar and salt. 2. Whisk or just mix with a fork to combine. 3. Add molasses and stir together until uniform in color and molasses has combined into the dry ingredients. 4. Fold in apple pieces. 5. Add bear and stir just until combined. Do not over mix. 6. Fold into a greased loaf pan. 7. Bake at 350 for about minutes, until toothpick just comes out clean. (mine took 40 minutes, so check then, first, but it might take a few minutes more) 8. Let cool on wire rack for a few minutes before turning out of pan. |
