An old family recipe! Very rich pastry dessert to enjoy with a good hot cup of coffee or tea! Ingredients:

12 sheets frozen filo pastry, thawed |
1c. melted butter, cooled |
3/4c. ground almonds |
confectioners sugar to finish before serving |
filling |
2lbs. tart apples |
grated zest and juice of 1 lemon |
1/2c. raisans |
1/3c. vanilla sugar |
1/2tsp. cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Peel and core apples, slice thinly add with other filling ingredients mixing well set aside. With floured tea towel place pastry; brush with butter, and repeat with remainder sheets of pastry. Sprinkle ground almonds and add filling, leaving a wide border fold for sealing. Then using the floured tea towel roll the apple filled pastry and seal the ends. |
