Delicate little morsels from the Southern chapter of the United States Regional Cookbook, Culinary Arts Institute of Chicago, 1947 Ingredients:
2 egg whites |
1 cup brown sugar |
1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring |
1 cup pecans, chopped |
1 cup dry breadcrumbs (very fine) |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325F and lightly grease baking sheet. 2. Beat egg whites stiff; add sugar and flavoring. 3. Combine nuts, crumbs and salt; fold gently into egg whites. 4. Shape into small balls, place on prepared pan and bake for about 20 minutes. |
