My mother has made this since I was a little kid. I just love it. When I serve it I pour a little heavy whipping cream over the top. Oh yeah. Ingredients:
2 cups cherries (mom used canned sour drained) |
2 cups sugar (divided) |
2 tbsp butter |
1/2 cup milk |
1 cup flour |
1 tsp baking powder |
Directions:
1. Combine cherries with 1 cup sugar and let stand while preparing the batter. 2. Mix together the flour, 1 cup sugar, and Baking powder. 3. Add the milk to flour mixture and mix well. 4. Melt butter and add to the batter. 5. Pour into an 8 x 8 greased glass baking dish and spoon fruit on top of batter. 6. Bake at 375 for 45 minutes. 7. Serve warm with cream. |
