I think this recipe is as good as any General Tsaos I've ever ordered out. This is a great recipe, but a bit of a pain if you are not into the deep fry method. Ingredients:
1 lb boneless chicken (bite-sized pieces) |
3 tbsp soy sauce |
3 tbsp corn starch |
1 egg white beaten until frothy |
1 cup oil |
3 hot dried pepper (crushed) |
2 cloves minced garlic |
1 piece minced ginger root (1 inch) |
1 tbsp white wine vinegar |
1 tbsp white wine |
1 tsp sesame oil |
1/2 tsp salt |
1 tsp brown sugar |
4 cups chopped brocolli |
6 shredded carrots |
Directions:
1. Heat oil and deep fry chicken until golden brown. 2. Remove and drain on paper towels. 3. Keep about 2 tbsp of oil in skillet; add peppers, garlic, and ginger and stir-fry 2 minutes. 4. In small bowl mix remaining ingredients until smooth. 5. Pour into skillet, cook, stirring 2 minutes until thick. 6. Return chicken and mix well. 7. Set aside. 8. Stir-fry brocolli and carrots about 4 minutes. 9. Mix chicken and veggies together. 10. Serve with fried rice. |
