My own take on a tomato based sauce Ingredients:
1 large onion, sliced |
2 large garlic cloves |
1/4 cup ginger, diced |
1 jalapeno pepper, diced |
1 (14 ounce) can smoked diced tomatoes |
1 1/2 tablespoons tomato paste |
1 tablespoon malt vinegar |
salt |
1/4 cup fat-free half-and-half or 1/4 cup cream |
14 ounces garbanzo beans (chick peas) |
Directions:
1. Caramelize the onion over medium heat for (18-20 minutes). 2. Add in garlic, ginger and jalapeno cook for (2-3 minutes). 3. Add in garbanzo beans. 4. Add the half & half and simmer for a few minutes. 5. Serve. |
