This German adopted recipe has had reviews commenting on the cloves. I do not care for cloves either but they can be an optional item. The taste may not be European but the bratwurst still tastes great. Ingredients:
6 bratwursts |
1 (12 ounce) can beer |
1 medium onion, chopped |
6 peppercorns (quantity optional) |
4 cloves (optional) |
6 hard rolls |
Directions:
1. Place bratwursts, beer, onion, peppercorns, and cloves, optional in a 3-quart saucepan. 2. Simmer for 10 minutes, drain. 3. Grill bratwursts 2 to 5 inches from charcoal about 10 minutes, and sprinkle with water while browning to crisp skin. 4. Serve in hard rolls with Dusseldorf-style mustard. |
