This delicious moist chocolate pound cake was a favorite in our Jacksonville, FL neighborhood. Enjoy! Ingredients:
3 cups sugar |
3 cups all-purpose flour |
5 tbsp cocoa |
1/2 tsp salt |
1/2 tsp baking powder |
1 cup butter |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 tbsp vanilla |
5 eggs |
1 1/4 cups milk |
icing: 2 cup powdered sugar |
3 tbsp cocoa |
2 tbsp eleo |
4 tbsp canned milk or regular |
1 tsp vanilla |
Directions:
1. Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt together. Set aside. 2. Cream sugar, butter and shortening. 3. Add eggs one at a time to this butter mixture. 4. Add vanilla. 5. Alternating, add the milk and the flour mixture. 6. Bake 1 1/2 hours in greased and floured tube pan at 325 degrees. 7. FROSTING: Melt butter, do not boil. 8. Mix all frosting ingredients together. Spread on cooled cake. |
