This delicious moist chocolate pound cake was a favorite in our Jacksonville, FL neighborhood. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
3 cups sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
5 tbsp cocoa
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
1 tbsp vanilla
5 eggs
1 1/4 cups milk
icing: 2 cup powdered sugar
3 tbsp cocoa
2 tbsp eleo
4 tbsp canned milk or regular
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
1. Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt together. Set aside.
2. Cream sugar, butter and shortening.
3. Add eggs one at a time to this butter mixture.
4. Add vanilla.
5. Alternating, add the milk and the flour mixture.
6. Bake 1 1/2 hours in greased and floured tube pan at 325 degrees.
7. FROSTING: Melt butter, do not boil.
8. Mix all frosting ingredients together. Spread on cooled cake.
