From the American Diabetes Association. These garlic sticks are an alternative to the high fat and salt versions. The best part is it's a way to use that day-old bread! extra-virgin olive oil, white bread, Parmesan cheese, garlic, dried oregano cvt Ingredients:
2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil |
100 g (4 slices) white bread, day-old |
2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese |
2 clove garlic, minced |
1 tsp dried oregano |
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Pour the oil into a small bowl. 2. Cut each slice of bread into 5 even strips, about 3/4-inch wide. Arrange on a piece of wax paper. Brush each strip lightly with the oil on both sides. 3. In a small bowl, combine the cheese, garlic, and oregano. Sprinkle this mixture over the strips, pressing with your fingers to make the crumb mixture adhere. 4. Place on the prepared baking sheet and bake until lightly browned, about 13 minutes. |
