Strange as it might seem, these are really pretty darned good! The Cabbage Patch strikes again... Ingredients:
1/2 stick butter, softened at room temperature |
1 clove garlic |
2 dozen thin slices salty rye bread |
Directions:
1. Cut garlic clove into four pieces. 2. Cream garlic pieces into butter, let stand for 30 minutes to allow garlic flavor to permeate butter. 3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. 4. Remove garlic. 5. Spread on each slice of rye bread, using 1/2 teaspoon garlic butter per slice. 6. Place on cookie sheet spread side up, and toast in hot oven for about 7 minutes or until crisp. 7. We used plain unsliced rye bread and cut it almost as thin as we would for Melba toast. |
