Garlic Haricots Verts Almondine |

This is a traditional Thanksgiving recipe in our house. It is a healthier alternative to green bean casserole. You can use regular green beans, but they will need to steam for an extra 2-3 minutes. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons olive oil |
1 tablespoon smart balance margarine |
1 lb french haricots vert, trimmed |
6 garlic cloves, thinly sliced |
1/2 cup almonds, slivered |
1/8 teaspoon sea salt |
1/8 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper |
Directions:
1. Place the oil and margarine in a skillet over medium-low heat (low heat on a gas range) until melted. 2. Add the haricots verts, stir, and cover for 3 minutes. Add the sliced garlic, stir, and saute for 3 more minutes. Add the remaining ingredients, stir, and saute for the final 3 minutes. |
