These may be made about 1 hour before serving; they reheat perfectly over low heat. Ingredients:
3 1/2 quarts water |
1 1/2 tablespoons salt |
4 cups uncooked regular grits |
5 garlic cloves, minced |
1 (2-pound) loaf process cheese spread, cubed |
1 cup half-and-half |
2/3 cup butter or margarine |
Directions:
1. Bring water and salt to a boil in a large Dutch oven; gradually stir in grits and garlic. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes. 2. Add cheese, half-and-half, and butter; simmer, stirring constantly, until cheese and butter melt. |
