Gaelic Coffee Cake

This recipe appeared on the back side of a bag of Velvet Cake And Pastry Flour circa 1955, and came to me from the estate of my mother, some years ago, in it's original condition. I reproduce here for the benefit of all my food friends.
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups velvet cake and pastry flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup commercial sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
1. Cream sugar and butter until light
2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition
3. Spoon flour into dry measuring cup
4. Level off and pour onto waxed paper
5. Add baking powder, soda and salt; stir well to blend
6. Add blended dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream and vanilla
7. Mix until smooth
8. Spread in well-greased 9 square pan
9. Sprinkle with Cinnamon Nut Topping (recipe to follow)
10. Bake at 350F for 45-50 minutes.
