This recipe appeared on the back side of a bag of Velvet Cake And Pastry Flour circa 1955, and came to me from the estate of my mother, some years ago, in it's original condition. I reproduce here for the benefit of all my food friends. Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup butter |
2 eggs |
2 1/4 cups velvet cake and pastry flour |
1 tsp baking powder |
1 tsp soda |
1/2 tsp salt |
1 cup commercial sour cream |
1 tsp vanilla |
Directions:
1. Cream sugar and butter until light 2. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition 3. Spoon flour into dry measuring cup 4. Level off and pour onto waxed paper 5. Add baking powder, soda and salt; stir well to blend 6. Add blended dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream and vanilla 7. Mix until smooth 8. Spread in well-greased 9 square pan 9. Sprinkle with Cinnamon Nut Topping (recipe to follow) 10. Bake at 350F for 45-50 minutes. |
