Perfect for breakfast, brunch and tea time. It is easy to make and delicious to eat. They always gone before I can put them on the plate. My sons love to help me making these balls with their small fingers. Ingredients:
for custard paste |
120g castor sugar |
1 tsp all purpose flour |
45g custard powder |
1 medium egg, beaten lightly |
200ml evaporated milk |
200ml water |
1 tsp vanilla essence |
1 tbsp melted butter |
for dough |
300g all purpose flour |
60g castor sugar |
1/2 tsp salt |
1 tsp baking powder |
140ml water |
1tbsp melted butter or vegetable oil |
2 cups vegetable oil for deep frying |
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients for the custard paste in a bowl. Mix well until no more lump. 2. Then cook over a very low fire. Stir constantly until the custard becomes thick. 3. Leave aside to cool thoroughly. 4. Combine all dough ingredients in a bowl. Knead until smooth. 5. Leave aside for 30 minutes. 6. Then make 10 small balls. 7. Flat one ball of dough with your palm. 8. Then put 1 tbsp of custard paste in the middle of the flatten ball. 9. Shape the ball into a slightly flatten ball. (Careful not to let the paste leaks out) 10. Repeat with the remaining dough. 11. Heat oil for deep-frying. Fry custard balls until golden brown say about 5 to 8 mins. Serve hot. |
