In this house if it says chocolate on it my husband eats it... these cookies also have coconut and almond...!! the recipe is out of the gifts from the kitchen cookbook.. the prep time does not include the 1 hour chill time Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1/2 quick-cooking oats |
1/2 cup cocoa |
1 teasp. baking soda |
1/4 teasp. salt |
1 cup butter |
3 squares ( 1 ounce each) semisweet chocolate, finely chopped |
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar |
2 eggs |
2 teasp. vanilla |
3/4 cup finely chopped flaked coconut |
1/2 cup slivered almonds, toasted and coursely chopped |
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, combine flour, oats, cocoa, baking soda and salt 2. stir well. set aside 3. in small saucepan combine butter and chocolate 4. cook over low heat, stirring often. until melted and smooth 5. remove from heat and tranfer the mixture to a large mixer bowl 6. cool completely 7. add sugars to chocolate mixture and beat on medium speed until well blended. 8. add eggs and the vanilla beat until smooth 9. gradually add flour mixture beating well 10. stir in coconut and the almonds 11. cover and chill for 1 hour 12. Drop dough by the rounded tablespoonful onto an ungreased baking sheets 13. preheat oven to 350'F and bake for 10 minutes 14. cool 1 minute on baking sheet then tranfer them to a wire rack 15. cool completely if you can |
