This is my sister Valerie's recipe and they are my all-time favorite brownies. Rich, fudgy, and moist! No need for frosting. These are great with chopped nuts as well. This recipe can easily be doubled. Ingredients:
1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. butter (butter only, please!) |
1 c. sugar |
1 tsp. vanilla |
2 eggs |
6 tbsp. cocoa (dutch-process is excellent in these, but plain is fine, too) |
1/2 c. flour (yes, only a 1/2 c.) |
1/2 tsp. salt |
1/2 c. chopped nuts, if desired |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Lightly grease an 8-inch square pan. 2. Beat together butter and sugar in a medium bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and eggs. 3. Stir in remaining ingredients until just blended. Do not overmix. 4. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 30 - 35 minutes or until tests done. Cool; cut into squares to serve. |
