I came across this recipe in a 1994 Classic Pillsbury Cookbook. The bonbons are a candy-like cookie. Ingredients:
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips |
1/4 cup butter |
1 (14-oz.) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated) |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts (optional) |
1 tsp. vanilla |
60 milk chocolate candy kisses or white and chocolate striped candy kisses, unwrapped |
2 oz. white baking bar |
1 tsp. shortening or oil |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. 2. In medium saucepan, combine chocolate chips and butter; cook and stir over very low heat until chips are melted and smooth. Add sweetened condensed milk; mix well. 3. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. 4. In medium bowl, combine flour, nuts, chocolate mixture and vanilla; mix well. 5. Shape 1 Tbs. (use measuring spoon) of dough around each candy kiss, covering completely. 6. Place 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. 7. Bake at 350 degrees for about 6 to 8 minutes. 8. Cookies will be soft and appear shiny but become firm as they cool. 9. DO NOT OVERBAKE! 10. Remove from cookie cookie sheets; cool. 11. In a small saucepan, combine white baking bar and shortening; cook and stir over low heat until melted and smooth. 12. Drizzle over cookies. 13. Store in tightly covered container. |
