A rich upside down cake. Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar |
2 tbsp butter |
1/2 cup milk |
1 cup flour(all purpose) |
2 tsp baking powder |
1/4 tsp salt |
2 tbsp cocoa |
1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1/2 cup granulated sugar |
1/3 cup cocoa |
1 1/2 cups boiling water |
Directions:
1. Cream together 3/4 cup sugar and butter. Stir in milk. 2. Sift flour,baking powder,salt and 2 tbsp cocoa together. 3. Add to creamed mixture and beat until smooth. 4. stir in walnuts. 5. Spread batter into a square 9 inch pan. 6. In a small bowl combine brown sugar,1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/3 cup of cocoa. Sprinkle over the batter. 7. Pout the boiling water over the top. 8. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes. 9. The cake will rise to the top and boiling water will combine with the sugar/cocoa mixture to make a rich syrup underneath. 10. I invert mine just like pineapple upside down cake. |
