This sounds like another Christmas recipe. Ingredients:
pastry |
2 1/4 c. flour |
1 tsp. salt |
2/3 c. crisco |
1 tbsp. butter |
filling |
1/2 cup sugar |
2 c. currants |
1 c. raisins |
2 apples, grated |
1 tsp. connamon |
1 tsp lemon extract |
1 tbsp. butter |
1 egg |
1 tbsp. milk |
Directions:
1. Blend pastry ingredients, using 5 Tablespoons cold water to bind. 2. Line 9 x 13 pan with 1/2 of pastry. 3. Mix all filling ingredients together, saving a small amount of egg and milk mixture. 4. Spread filling on pastry. 5. Spread rest of pastry on top of filling. 6. Prick top with a fork. 7. Brush with egg-milk mixture. 8. Sprinkle granulated sugar (small amount) on top. 9. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. 10. Cool. 11. Cut into squares. |
