An alternative to oatmeal for a satisfying hot breakfast. Ingredients:
1/2 cup barley |
2 cup water |
2 tbsp sweetened dried cranberries (or other dried fruit) |
2 tbsp walnuts, chopped |
1/4 tsp salt |
1 tsp ground cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Get the water boiling then add the barley stir bring back up to a boil then reduce heat to medium. 2. Add in the spices, dried fruit and walnuts. 3. Let simmer for 45 minutes or until the water is absorbed. The barley should be soft and full. Add more water if you feel its needed. |
