FRUIT SCRAPPLE This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. “A fine breakfast dish,” writes Mrs. Read more . Mary E. Blythe, Elsinore, CA. The upper right hand corner had the date 1947 written on it.
Ingredients:
3 cups water
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup wheat cereal
1 cup chopped apples
1 cup chopped seedless raisins
1 cup canned crushed pineapple drained
butter
Directions:
1. Boil water and salt then stir wheat cereal in gradually and cook slowly for 20 minutes.
2. Add remaining ingredients and stir well.
3. Remove from heat and turn into a well greased loaf pan then chill until firm.
4. Slice and fry in butter until browned and cooked through.
5. Serve hot for breakfast with syrup.
