May be frosted with lemon or orange frosting. Add grated lemon or orange zest for a little extra zing. Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
2 cups packed brown sugar |
4 eggs |
1/2 cup chopped candied citron |
1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
Directions:
1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease two baking sheets. 2. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and spices and set aside. In a large bowl, beat the sugar and eggs until thick. Gradually blend in dry ingredients. Fold in candied citron and walnuts. 3. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 1-1/2 inches apart onto greased baking sheets. 4. Bake for 20-30 minutes until lightly colored. Cool on wire racks. |
