This recipe came from an old cookbook. This is a recipe I use the most. Ingredients:
1 cup unbleached flour, sifted |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup milk |
1 egg, slightly beaten |
Directions:
1. Cut in butter till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 2. Cobine milk and slightly beaten egg. 3. Add all at once to dry ingredients, stirring just to moisten. Set aside. 4. Prepare cherry, peach, apple, or rhubarb filling. 5. Pour filling into 8-1/4x1-3/4 inch round baking dish. 6. Immediately spoon on biscuit topper in 6 mounds. 7. Bake at 400 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. 8. Serve warm with cream or ice cream. |
